January 2025 Newsletter
Another year is behind us and as we ring in the New Year, it's always a great time to reflect on the previous year, while also looking forward to what's most important to us for 2025.
As a consumer, I tend to compartmentalize product and service investments into 2 categories that fall into either a "necessity" or a "nice to have" bucket. Not surprisingly, our definition of what falls into these 2 categories will vary drastically from individuals and circumstance. For example, does a monthly subscription to your favorite TV/streaming service or possibly a monthly visit to your nail salon fall into the needed or "nice to have" bucket? Interestingly, products or services that may have been considered a luxury in the past, like mobile devices or even life insurance, have now become necessary. So many examples, but businesses alike struggle with budgetary decisions in the same way on a regular basis.
One thing I know for sure is that at some time in the past, you made an investment to provide a more secure home and/or business environment for those most important to you. If not, you likely wouldn't be reading this letter. Was your system considered a "necessity" or a "nice to have" when you made the investment? Has the world or even our communities become safer over this past year? Unfortunately, I believe we can all agree that although our first responders are heroes, they continue to be presented with more difficult life safety challenges each day. Human resources may be stretched, but they will continue to do their best at deterring the bad guy and to be the first on-site when alerted.
Security systems have been around for centuries and were always designed to detect when unauthorized entries occurred. Thankfully, with the many advances in technology, we can now easily use them for deterrence and prevention. According to Neighborhood Scout, 1 of every 57 residents in Mississippi have a chance of becoming a victim of property crime. With those statistics alone, I hope we can all agree that monitored security systems still fall into the "necessity" category. Security systems were never intended to be a "one size fits all" solution, as priorities and lifestyle vary. Some folks travel a lot or have a second residence and primarily want to ensure it's protected while away. Others are mostly concerned about themselves and family while at home, and then you have the businesses who want to limit the possibility of inventory loss, while increasing employee safety. These and so many more reasons explain why one size does not fit all. Proper system design should address your lifestyle, priorities and maximize the value of your investment.
No doubt, cameras are exponentially becoming more prevalent within our society. One key reason is they now provide the ability to Actively Deter a would-be bad guy. The evolution of technology at its finest! The video doorbell was first invented around 10 years ago. One reason they've become increasingly popular over the last 3-5 years and now in over 20% of households is their ability to alert you before someone approaches the doorstep and pushes the button. Thanks to artificial intelligence, "Active Deterrence" is the newest in video technology. This technology allows you to see and know in real time when it is happening instead of after the fact. Now here's the great news, this technology is available to our customers at a very economical price for both your home and business.
Almost all the cameras we now offer incorporate some form of AI. Our newest solution is the Active Deterrence Floodlight camera. It can replace your existing flood light, or we can install it in another location. This Floodlight camera incorporates a 4MP camera with floodlights, red/blue strobes with talk-down capabilities. Please feel free to contact our sales department for more details. You create rules and let it run off the intruder upon property line breach! We sometimes get complacent with the use of our security systems. Please be in the habit of actively arming. Let us know if you would like to know more about some of the features many of these systems already have the capability of performing. You've made a wise decision with the investment of your security, now please use it if you have it.
