All too often, we hear from our neighbors throughout the communities we serve AFTER the loss of property occurs. In 2020, the average chances of being a victim of property crime in Mississippi is 1 out of every 42 residents, with a burglary rate of almost double of that in the United States. It's not uncommon for the victim of these crimes to ask themselves the same question... "why us"? It's in our nature to try and understand why something bad occurred, and then figure out how to prevent it from occurring again. As we move into October and the fall season, we always want to support and recognize the 90-year-old tradition of National Fire Prevention week (Oct 3rd-Oct 9th). We do this through promoting the importance of including monitored fire detection as part of your security and life safety systems.
Detecting smoke and sounding an alarm for evacuation is the goal of the average smoke detector. But what if you're not at home? Enjoying the added benefit of monitored smoke detection allows the added comfort in knowing that if a fire should occur while not on premise, a signal will be sent to the monitoring center. The obvious goal is to minimize fire related property loss, not to mention the safety of any furry friends that might be left at home.
Please take a moment and test your smoke detectors to make sure they work. If you are unable to test them, or know their proper operation may be questionable due to age, contact us for replacement. If you don't have monitored detectors, guess what we'll be talking to you about?
