Organizations throughout the world face a plethora of threats including altercations, robberies, intrusions, angry clientele, disgruntled employees and certainly now more than ever, the potential escalation to active shooter situations. It's getting crazier with each passing day, and we must stay proactive and educated on protecting ourselves, our families, employees and properties. As a civilized society, we all understand it's everyone's responsibility to help deescalate all forms of violence and disruption, but the overall threat against our most basic right to personal safety is real and growing. As an employee at the workplace, a student at school, consumer in a retail environment or attendee at a public venue, we all deserve and expect some level of security that extends beyond our own domain. We cannot be complacent and allow some of this craziness to be the norm! Understanding "it can happen to you" is an important first step. If you're reading this letter, I'm assuming you've already considered this a possibility and taken the appropriate steps by utilizing our services.
Unfortunately, and all too often, All Safe Technologies gets the call after an event occurs. Preparedness and deterrence are critical elements in helping to avoid the possibility of becoming the next victim. Visible security signage, proper lighting, access-controlled locks/barriers, electronic security systems and cameras all play important roles for which they were designed. Integrating some or all these solutions and customizing them to meet your specific requirements is not only cost effective, but often can be accomplished utilizing existing independent solutions.
Security and life safety solutions have come a long way since I was introduced to this business 30+ years ago. Detection was the goal! We've now entered the era of detection PRIOR to an incident occurring AND WITH an increased survival and/or apprehension rate. To help put this into context, commercial fire detection systems were initially intended to inform occupants throughout the premise of smoke or fire by means of sounders, smoke detectors and pull stations. Integration then assisted with the goal of saving lives by saving seconds. Upon activation and while the fire department is dispatched, sprinklers are triggered to help suppress the fire, air conditioning systems shut down to avoid the spread of smoke, elevators are recalled, voice evacuation assists with exit instructions and doors are unlocked... all in concert.
Whether in the context of life and death situations or property crime, seconds do count! Developing programs and assessing vulnerabilities by leveraging technology to enhance our customers' business operations and personal security, is what All Safe Technologies ultimately strives to achieve each day. The good news is the options are catching up to the demand and within the means of a reasonable investment. The systems installed decades ago may still work, but are you getting the most bang for your buck? Today's most basic systems provide for the detection of intrusion and fire but are also capable of automating a variety of tasks before and after the threat occurs. The advent of analytics and AI can't be ignored and takes integration to a whole new level. Understanding a series of events is far more valuable than only looking for a single event.
With the continued shrinking of responding agency personnel and budgets, we can help ensure the best use of first responders time is warranted by minimizing false alarms. This is best accomplished with systems capable of analyzing a series of events in milliseconds using newer applications and video or audio verification. The exponential rise in the use of smart video technology and a variety of other innovative solutions continue to break the barriers of the uncommon.
